The Small Successes

It was magical! Last week, one of the boys that has refused to participate in dancing, danced! I have been hoping and praying that he would eventually make the decision to dance, or that I would know the magic trick to get him to participate. This time, he didn't just go through the motions, but his whole body was moving and enthusiastic about traveling through the space.

I was so excited! I am not sure what changed in him. It might've been that he was tired of opting out, the talk about participation the week before helped, or that he just thought it would be fun. Whatever it was, something changed. That was a success for me last week.

I am learning that even though we always have room to improve as teachers, and lessons may not go the way we want to, or we forget something, or don't explain something right, or the children are bored, etc there are always the small successes that we should rejoice in. Having this little boy dance was a small success!
